The parish church dedicated to St. Nicolas in Brzeziny

General

Type d'unité:

The parish church dedicated to St. Nicolas was probably erected in the 2nd half of the 15th c.

In the 1st half of the 17th c, the temple was decorated with a polychrome, which was partially renovated in the 50s of the 20th c.

The church was repeatedly restructured, among others, the church was surrounded by special eaves (Polish soboty, literally Saturdays; for shelter of pilgrims arriving on Saturday for the Sunday mass), the women’s gallery was built and the tower was transformed into a fleche. In 1933, it was extended according to the project, by architect Waclaw Krzyzanowski, which included the insertion of a transept between the presbytery and the nave.
