FEATURES, ORIGINS, VALUES AND LEGAL PROTECTION
During the execution of the works to protect and secure the basements of the Old Town in Jaroslaw, very interesting, in terms of architectural and historical value, passageways and chambers were discovered and accessed. The city authorities decided to utilise them, with the help of the Specialized Scientific Team from AGH, for an underground tourist route and thus protect a section of the historical underground network of passages from further destruction. Selected sections were chosen which still had the original brick lining that was filled with loess or loess and lime mortar. All the necessary works were carried out, the different levels were connected with ramps or stairs and specific underground chambers were architecturally given variety with stone and brick and then filled with historical and architectural exhibits. The ceremonial opening took place on 1st June 1984, during which the City of Jaroslaw, as a tribute to the Scientist from AGH, gave the name of the AGH Professor Felix Zalewski to the Underground Tourist Route.

The trail is open all year round but by appointment only.
Length of the route is around 180m.
Tour takes about 30 minutes.
The route is electrically illuminated.
The trail is not suitable for people with physical disabilities.
