Kanał Kłodnicki (Kłodnicki Canal)

General

Type d'unité:

You are invited to visit the Klodnicki Canal. The water way was built between 1792-1822, it is supposed to be used for transport of coal from the mine Luiza in Zabrze.

The first project of regulation came into force in Kłodnica in 1788. A year later, there was a first project of the canal with its length of 46 km from Gliwice to Koźle (at present part of Kędzierzyn-Koźle). About 2 km below the floodgate Nowa Wieś on the Gliwicki Canal there is so-called "syfon Kłodnicy". It is a "non-collision crossing" of Kanał Gliwicki and Kłodnica river that flows under the canal. It is one of two such existing crossing - watercourse in Poland. The second one is an aqueduct Fojutowo on the Wielki Kanał Brdy.
