Crossing the River sculpture

The sculpture balances on a rope over the Brda River just across the bridge leading to the Old Town.

The monument was unveiled on the 1st of May, 2004 on Polish accession to the European Union and is a gift from the authorities to the residents of the city. Balancing sculpture by George Kędziora weighs 50 kg and is considered to be the main symbol of the city. The sculpture shows a young man with a bandage on his hips crossing the river by walking on the rope. In one hand he holds a rod in the other - an arrow, and carries a pair of Roman sandals on his shoulder.
