Dziura Cave

The Dziura Cave was formed in Triassic limestone most likely due to water activity at high temperature and large quantities of carbon dioxide. These waters seeped under pressure through numerous fissures, dissolving the rock and creating karst voids.

FEATURES, ORIGINS, VALUES AND LEGAL PROTECTION
The cave entrance, with a width of 3m and a height of 2m, is located at the foot of a rock tower which reaches a height of about 1000 metres above sea level. The cave consists of one large chamber, at the end of which in the ceiling there is a second opening, located approximately 20 metres higher. The total length of the cave is about 180 metres. The bottom is covered with rotting leaves, humus, clay and rubble.
It has been famous for a long time as it was been visited by many people already in the 19th century.
The cave is located in the Tatra National Park.
