Dupka Cave

"Dupka” is an old Polish term for a hole in the ground.
This unique cave is situated among a clump of beech trees behind a Youth Hostel in Siedlec on top of a hill called “Dupka”.

FEATURES, ORIGINS, VALUES AND LEGAL PROTECTION
The cave is shrouded in legend. One tells the story of Pan Twardowski who, whilst being chased by the devil, was sitting on top of the hill and passing wind whilst laughing, made the hole in the ground.
The entrance is easily accessible and leads to a gentle ramp into an expansive chamber from the bottom of which it is possible to enter a several metre long corridor that is finished off with several fissures. There are a few dripstones in the cave but mainly of the small drapery type.
