The oldest documented mention of the town hall come from 1426. The first town hall was in gothic style with a 70-metre tall and eightsided tower looking down on the city.
The first town hall in Kalisz as the seat of independent municipal authorities was before 1426. The present building is the third edifice of the municipality in the town. It was erected in 1920-1925 in accordance with Sylwester Pajzderski`s design. The building refers to Renaissance style. The town hall has a small courtyard and a high tower, from which one can admire the panorama of the town situated on the Prosna River. Inside the building, in the corridors of individual stories, there are charts showing former Kalisz and its historical places.
