The place has been connected with the Cistercian Order from 1230.

The place has been connected with the Cistercian Order from 1230, which was located here by the knight Mikołaj Bronisz. Thee beginning of the monastery of ascension of the Holy Mary dates back to 1236. That was also when the village became the name Paradisus Matris Dei (Paradise of God’s Mother) /polish Paradyż/. In 1836 after the cassation of the order, all complex became a Royal Prussian Teachers’ Seminary which existed till March 31st, 1926. After the war by the decree from September 29th, 1952 the Philosophy Faculty of the Priests’ Seminary in Gorzow has been brought into life. In 1961, the whole seminary has been moved to Paradyż. Nowadays, the post Cistercian monastery is the Faculty of Theology of the Adam Mickiewicz's University in Poznań. Because of its unique architecture, it is a popular destination for tourists from Poland and abroad. It is also an ideal meeting place for artists (music festival “Music in Paradise”), politicians (erecting act of Lubuskie Province), scientists and clergymen.

No visiting during masses and other praying periods. Visiting time – approx. 1 hour Waiting for the guide at the gate may last approx. 10 minutes. Guarded parking place – 5 zloty/hour.
