Kalisz, the oldest town in Poland, is one of most resilient centres of polish music life. Significant traditions relate to visits of Frederick Chopin and Henryk Wieniawski and outstanding european 19th century virtuosos.
Nowadays, Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra is seen by artists and critics as one of most out-standing orchestral groups in Poland. The band has played with most prominent polish soloists and conductors, such as: Wanda Wiłkomirska, Janusz Olejniczak, Piotr Paleczny, Rafał Blechacz, Ewa Pobłocka, Leszek Możdżer, Wiesław Ochman, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Waldemar Malicki, Izabela Kłosińska, Bernard Ładysz, Marek Pijarowski, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Bogusław Madey.
