Church of St. Nicholas

General

Type d'unité:

The exact date of construction of the Church is not knows. It was probably in the 2nd half of the 15th or in 15th/16th centuries. Some researchers think it was constructed in 1611.

The parish in Lubla was founded already in the 2nd half of the 13th century (since the late 12th century until 1786, the village belonged to the Cistercian monastery in Koprzywnica). The Church was renovated several times: in 1838, 1862, 1922 and 1928. The Church was damaged during the war in 1944. In 1969-1970, work was carried out in the interior: including renovation of altars and painting a new polychromy by Turkowski and Florek. The Church is oriented, in log construction with tower of post and beam and framework construction. The truss-hook-encasement construction system is characteristic of the oldest wooden churches in the south-eastern region of Małopolska (including in churches there in Haczów and Trzcinica) and argues for the 15th century dating of the Church. The original construction of the orchid roof truss is preserved.
